I have a LOT of dreams and I love telling them and hearing about ones other people have had, so here's a thread to share all the dreams about Peter we all have.

It wasn't so much a dream, but a nightmare...I dreamt of reading books that cruelly disparaged Peter's achievements as an actor - even "Being There" wasn't safe from these vultures. I was scanning the pages in horror, despairing over anyone speaking sweetly of him.

Aw, boo. That kind of thing should be illegal in Dream Land.
I haven't had one lately but the last one was me on my sofa looking at some old black & white photo of a young Peter standing in front of a white car with two other guys.
Oh, weeks ago I did have one where I was with a friend in some room like a big flea market or something, and Peter walked by in a disguise but I knew it was him. I subtly followed him (making sure not to freak out and attract attention to myself) back to an employees-only room. He went in and I was waiting around for him to come out. He finally did and was standing by my friend and talking to her so I went over and asked her if she knew who he was. Of course she had no idea, so I said who he was and she still didn't know (or care, hmff) and he told me he was flattered that I recognized him.

Last night (today, rather) I had one where my mom brought up a box of all these book pages, postcards and photos of Peter that we had stored in the basement (my grandfather used to have EVERYTHING down there years ago so I wouldn't be surprised, lol). I was looking through it all and dumped out the box to start from the bottom and got sidetracked so never got to look through it all.
I'm slightly annoyed that I've been having dreams where he's just in photos and not in person. There are certain people who seem like they'd be a blast to dream about (John Astin never dissapoints and I don't even find him attractive, so no need to try and take advantage of him when he shows up in a dream, hehe).

I had one where he was at a workbench and I was looking over his shoulder. The piece was a black glove; then the fingers each became a glove. (I'd prefer the mathematical interpretation of that, instead of the Freudian one, but to each his-or-her own...) Then today there was a post on the Yahoo Group board that quoted from an interview in which he said, "The actor starts with a blueprint of a character, a few written lines, a script. Using as much valid raw material - that is to say life - as he can, he then builds up the character, layer by layer." He clearly had a laborer's or craftsman's work ethic, but he built emotional machines, what we would call today virtual machines, automata or avatars.

That ties right into my "coincidences are popping up all over the place lately" speech I was giving my mom today. We went to pick up dog treats at the vets and the people ahead of us had the same last name (with one difference in the spelling).
Anyway, I had one earlier this morning....
I have this bar (sorry to those who may already know this, lol) down the street from me (in real life, too) and in my dream I own it and have a bunch of celebrities hang out there. Upstairs is a bunch of apartments and they stay in my apt. when I'm not using it. So I went to my bar and it was filled with this group of people all dancing to a Peter song (not sure which) and it got kinda dirty at the end, a few comments were made about it, then it was over and everyone left to go home for the night. I said we were just about to play the soundtrack to The Party, someone said that's a good soundtrack but they couldn't stay. I was left alone with this one girl who was mad cos I didn't invite her to the bar for the music. I siad I didn't think she'd be interested (since she was the one who didn't care about Peter in my other dream when I introduced her to him). I started looking around and said, "There should be a Peter wearing a hat around here somewhere" and saw him sitting on a bed in the corner playing cards, looking like he did in The Party and wearing a little red shriner-tyle hat. I pretended not to see him because I wanted him to actually be hiding, not just sitting out in the open.
I kept looking and some guy shows up with a gun and I turn into Clouseau, but my friend was already saying Clouseau-style lines, asked the guy for ID, I was repeating hte things she was saying, told him to drop the gun, etc. By the time I got over to him, I woke up.
Never any real action!

It's not just a board thread, it's group therapy! Let's see if anyone else has been thinking along these lines... The "deep cellar" reference in one of the old bios has been with me for a long time, and I've been trying to turn it into a concept for a New and Improved (virtual, at this point) Bio. Blame my college education, but postmodernism coughed up a word I keep trying to use (whether that's a good idea or not): Bricolage is a word that has no direct equivalent in English (though I'd say the word "tinker" calls it up, so that's not such a problem as it might seem). "In essence, bricolage is what tinkers do -- collecting odd bits of stuff they think may be potentially useful, then using whatever bits seem to work in the context of some later repair job. Simple. And yet profound. Because the bits the bricoleur ends up using were not designed for the use they end up being put to.... Oh yeah and by the way, Levi-Strauss says bricolage is analogous to the mythical thinking typical of primitive peoples. Savages. You know, the kind of uncivilized barbarians you get in places like Harvard, Borneo, New Guinea and the World Wide Web." (From http://www.chiefbloggingofficer.com/2005_03_20_archive.html Wow, a blog with footnotes!) OK, that last part's a stretch, but the kicker is, there's a hardware store in France called Mr. Bricolage. As soon as I heard that name, I came up with this idiotic little jingle for it in my head that has to be drowned out with jazz music. I know it's embedded in there for a reason, but the Why has yet to come to light. If anyone can dream me a quick way out of this, I'd appreciate the helping hand...

That would be incredibly awesome to have some of the dreams Peter had himself (I imagine, I mean he ust have had a few good ones in that brain of his).
Mine tend to be made up of the same places (my dream bar/mall, etc.) and then other times I'll dream things and something from them will pop up later that day or the next (once had a dream about a horse and that same day one walked up the road by our house when I just happened to be passing by a window!). Too bad I don't dream about Peter and end up winning a contest where I win a something or other that once belonged to him.

I've realized that when Peter appears in my dreams, it's always only in a picture, a book - I'm never actually with him per se. Forever apart from him, it seems I'll be...

I'd say that would be normal if you weren't a fan and didn't know enough about him to know how he'd actually act in a dream (as if dreams ever make sense anyway, lol), but that's not the case here, so hmmmm. When I first started liking him, he was in my dream "in person" but then later he shows up in books and photos. Even in dreams nobody knows the real Peter.

I suppose so, but it would be nice to have a chance to hug him, or something, in dreamland...

Totally. He seems like he'd be a blast to dream about and just hang out with. I actually am almost certain he was in one of mine last night (today) but I was suffering with cramps so the pain of that covered up all memories of my dreams, lol!

I had a quick dream where I was in a monster-proof (some shadow thing was after me) room with a guy and Peter. Peter checked the bookshelf to make sure there were no monsters outside the room and then we all came out and did some shopping in the CD store. Weird, but at least he was there, lol!

I don't remember the circumstances too clearly, but in a dream I had a few days ago there was a group of people in a painting that turned out to be disguised Peters!
